After having another celebratory afternoon Pabst on Wednesday, Bill and I went to the local farmer's market for some resources, and then on a bike ride around SLC. The streets are so wide and unbusy, this is the best place I have seen for bicyclists.
Yesterday morning was rainy and dreary. We decided to skip birding for the day (my first "day off" since I started). Instead, we went to Mormon thrift stores and watched daytime game shows. The woman on "Deal or No Deal" was dumb. In the afternoon, after some sleet, the weather cleared. We went for another bike ride, then headed to Brook's comedy show at a bar called Wiseguys.
This morning we got up at about 7, headed over to pick up one of Bill's birder friends, Carl, and went to Antelope Island again. It was very helpful going there this time with someone who goes quite often. We came across some good new species for me, which included RED-NAPED SAPSUCKER, CALIFORNIA QUAIL, CORDILLERAN FLYCATCHER, ORANGE-CROWNED WARBLER, and MACGILLVRAY'S WARBLER, all in the wooded migrant trap near the ranch. Then we headed to the Visitor's Center to try to flush out a CHUKAR, but with no luck- but we did see a BREWER'S BLACKBIRD.
